Britain will make it illegal to use artificial intelligence tools that create child sexual abuse images, becoming the first country in the world to introduce such AI sexual abuse laws, notes CNN. One new law targets the use of AI tools to “nudeify” real-life images of children. The move comes as online criminals increasingly use AI to create child abuse material, with reports of such explicit images rising nearly five-fold in 2024, according to the Internet Watch Foundation.

The World Photography Organization has unveiled National and Regional Award winners of the 2025 Sony World Photo Awards, featuring work from 56 different countries and regions. The National and Regional Awards program supports photographic communities around the world, with winners and finalists selected from the contest’s Open competition. Among them: Lucero Mora Ardila of Mexico, who is the first-place winner of the Latin American Regional Awards.

Annie Leibovitz has teamed up with photographer and philanthropist Lisa Saltzman to launch the Saltzman-Leibovitz Photography Prize, a $20,000 award dedicated to championing emerging photographers. The six shortlisted photographers for the inaugural prize were selected from Leibovitz’s mentorship program, part of her role as the first Ikea Artist in Residence, notes Digital Camera World. The finalists are: Elena Kalinichenko (Ukraine); Ka’Vozia Glynn (U.S.); Praise Hassan (Nigeria); Toma Hurduc (Romania); Trâm Nguyn Quang (the Netherlands); and Zélie Hallosserie (France).
