Sometimes bad things turn out to be blessings, as Vancouver Island-based underwater videographer Peter Mieras discovered when he lost his action camera in the ocean—only to accidentally capture a breathtaking video of a humpback whale. Mieras attached his Insta360 X4 camera to a fishing rod in the hopes of capturing interesting footage in the shallow waters near his home in Barkley Sound, on the west coast of Vancouver Island. Tech News: It Looks Like a Vintage 1970s SLR, but the OM-3 Is Very Much Modern

OM System’s newest Micro Four Thirds mirrorless camera, the OM-3, has a design inspired by the Olympus OM-1 film camera that debuted in 1972. But, notes The Verge, it’s very much up to date, with features similar to last year’s OM System OM-1 Mark II in a more compact and affordable body, including a 20.37-megapixel stacked back-illuminated sensor and 10-bit 4K 60p video capabilities. The OM-3 also features the same computational photography modes as the OM-1 Mark II but makes them easily accessible through a dedicated button and control dial. In Focus: A Portrait of Pain and Grief in the West Bank

Since 2021, the Palestinian-Dutch photographer Sakir Khader has documented men, women and children in the West Bank cities of Jenin and Nablus, returning often to the same homes within the Jenin refugee camp. “Through his images, notes AnOther, Khader channels “the death that permeates the land.” Says the photographer: “My photography is simply what I see – sometimes life, sometimes death, and the uncertain space in between.” His work is on view at Foam  in Amsterdam until May 14, 2025.   Read the full Story >>

Meta is offering popular TikTok creators deals up to $300,000 to post Reels on Instagram, notes PetaPixel, citing a report from Business Insider. Leaked contracts show that Meta is paying select TikTok creators — who have over one million followers on the platform — up to to $50,000 per month to post exclusive content to Instagram Reels. Meta’s move comes as TikTok faces an uncertain future: Last month, President Donald Trump signed an executive order delaying a TikTok ban for 75 days, giving the Chinese-owned video app more time to find a U.S. buyer.   Read the full Story >>
