Resources: The BBC Sound Effects Archive is Now Free to Download

Launched in 2018 as a beta service offering just over 16,000 sounds, the BBC Sound Effects  collection has been expanded to some 33,000 files, which are now available to download for free. All sound effects are available in WAV format and ready to drop into your projects. The files have been released under a RemArc license, meaning they can be used for research and education, as well as personal projects, completely free. “Research” does not include AI training or data mining, which still requires a license, notes DIY Photography.   Read the full Story >>

Tech News: DJI's Air 3S Drone is a Low-Light 'All-Rounder'

DJI’s newly announced $1,099 Air 3S drone builds on predecessor Air 3 in a few notable ways, including better image quality—especially in low light, notes The Verge. A suite of sensors enable nightscape obstacle sensing, including front-facing LiDAR, downward infrared time-of-flight sensors, and a total of six vision sensors. There’s a dual-camera system, with a primary 24mm camera that can shoot 4K/60fps HDR and 4K/120fps video, and an improved 50-megapixel, 1-inch sensor.   Read the full Story >>

What We Learned This Week: Son Charged in Killing of Photojournalist Paul Lowe on a California Hiking Trail

On Oct. 12, deputies with the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department were dispatched to a popular hiking trail in the San Gabriel Mountains near Los Angeles, where they discovered Paul Lowe, a celebrated British photojournalist who had been stabbed to death.
