Over the last decade, Mehmet Malkoç has photographed many hard-hitting events, including the devastating earthquake in Turkey in 2023. “I try to follow important developments in the country,” he says. As a sideline that helps support him financially, he also shoots weddings in a way that elevates the genre, notes the British Journal of Photography. Malkoç spends long periods with guests in rural settings, allowing his photojournalistic style to permeate, documenting the relationship between people, time and space.

BigPicture Natural World Photography Competition Friday July 12, 2024
Organized by the California Academy of Sciences, the BigPicture Natural World Photography Competition aims to highlight Earth’s biodiversity and illustrate the many threats to our planet. The winners and finalists of the 11th annual competition do just that. The Grand Prize goes to photographer and National Geographic explorer Jaime Rojo for his view of the Monarch Butterfly Biosphere Reserve in Michoacán, Mexico, where immense swaths of butterflies rest in clusters after making the 3,000 mile migration from Canada and United States.

DP Review Friday July 12, 2024
Adobe is in the process of adding the ability to provide CAI-compliant Content Credentials to images created with Adobe Camera Raw, Lightroom and Photoshop. The system is intended to provide an industry-standard means of providing transparency about an image's source, its edits and whether any AI elements have been added. But, notes DP Review, there are some significant differences in the implementations, at present. The option in Photoshop, for instance, is described as a beta. To enable the feature, you currently need to engage it for each image as you open it, before you make any edits.
