Tech News: Firmware Update Roundup for Fujifilm, Nikon, Sony and Panasonic

With camera companies now continually adding features to already-released cameras, DP Review has conveniently rounded up recently firmware updates for Fujifilm, Nikon, Sony and Panasonic models. Fujifilm has issued a series of updates for its GFX100 II, X-T5, X-H2, X-H2S and X100VI; Sony has released firmware v2.0 for the a9 III; Nikon has released updates for the Z5, Z8, D7500 and D850; OM System has issued updates for its OM-5, OM-1 and OM-1 II; and Panasonic's Lumix DC-S5II and S5IIX have received updates.   Read the full Story >>

Honor Roll: Reuters and AP Win Pulitzers for Photography

The Pulitzer Prizes   Tuesday May 7, 2024

The winners of the 2024 Pulitzer Prizes were announced yesterday afternoon, with the photo staffs of Reuters and the Associated Press both being honored. Reuters won the Pulitzer for Breaking News for “raw and urgent photographs” documenting the deadly Oct. 7 attack in Israel by Hamas and the first weeks of Israel’s devastating attack on Gaza. AP won the Feature Photography prize for “poignant photographs chronicling unprecedented masses of migrants and their arduous journey north from Colombia to the border of the United States.”   Read the full Story >>

Agenda: The 2024 W. Eugene Smith Grant Cycle Timeline

W. Eugene Smith Memorial Fund   Tuesday May 7, 2024

The W. Eugene Smith Memorial Fund has announced the timeline for its 2024 grant cycle, with applications opening on July 2. The deadline for submissions is October 8, and grant recipients will be announced on December 10. For 2024, the amount of the W. Eugene Smith Grant is $30,000. An additional $10,000 Fellowship Grant will be awarded and $5,000 will be given as the Finalist Grant. The W. Eugene Smith Student Grant will be $5,000.   Read the full Story >>
