State of the Art: This Site 'Nudifies' People for a Fee

As AI-powered image generators have become more accessible, so have websites that digitally remove the clothes of people in photos, notes Wired, which reports on one site that  “nudifies” photos for a fee. People who want to create and save deepfake nude images are asked to log in to the site using a cryptocurrency wallet. Pricing isn’t currently listed, but in a 2022 video posted by an affiliated YouTube page, the website let users buy credits to create deepfake nude images, starting at 5 credits for $5.   Read the full Story >>

Media Watch: Karly Kloss's Company to Relaunch Life Magazine

Bedford Media, the New York-based media holding company owned by fashion model Karlie Kloss and her husband, Joshua Kushner, has announced that it will relaunch Life magazine as a regular newsstand publication. The new version of the iconic picture magazine is still to be determined but it will most likely launch as a quarterly in early 2025, along with a website and branded digital products, notes the LA Times. The relaunch is being done as part of an agreement with Dotdash Meredith. Bedford Media also recently acquired  i-D magazine.    Read the full Story >>

Tech News: Big Firmware Update Brings Content Authenticity and More to Sony Cams

Sony has announced major firmware updates for four of its full-frame cameras, bringing to them a number of new features, including C2PA authenticity verification capabilities. The updates cover the  Sony a7S III, a1, and a7 IV, with an update coming for the a9 III in early April, notes DP Review. The  Content Authenticity system applies encrypted information about the provenance of an image, which is useful in an era when people “can edit or generate fake media more easily than ever before,” adds DIY Photography.   Read the full Story >>
