“I don't think people need to remember who I am, it's [more] important that they remember the images.” So said the late photographer Corky Lee, who notably documented the Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) experience for half a century. Lee's passing in 2021 at the age of 73 from covid was mourned in the press, and now journalist Jennifer Takaki looks at his life in the new documentary film Photographic Justice: The Corky Lee Story. Shuttered blinds, peeling paint, and aging doors don’t usually indicate an invitation, but for French photographer Thibaut Derien, the fading facades of long-closed shops is an irresistible lure, notes Colossal. In his ongoing series “J’habite une ville fantôm,” which translates to “I live in a ghost city,” he captures myriad eras and architectural details in storefronts ranging from cafes to photo studios to fishmongers, drawn to what he describes as a desire to “immortalize” them before they disappear for good.

Meike’s newly released 55mm F1.4 lens—the brand’s first autofocus APS-C lens for Fujifilm, Sony and Nikon cameras—costs $200, making it a budget-friendly alternative to similar lenses available on the market, notes DP Review. The lens has a minimum focusing distance of 23.6 inches and weighs 10.1ounces. Along the barrel, there is an AF/MF switch, a manual focus ring and an aperture ring. Meike has included a USB-C port at the rear of the lens, which it says will be used to install future firmware updates.
