Nikon has released firmware version 2.0 for its Z8 high-end mirrorless camera, adding features for still and video shooters, including one that will please fans of avian photography: a dedicated bird detection mode that should be able to recognize a wider range of birds in a wider array of poses, even against complex backdrops. A new Pixel Shift feature allows the camera to take 4, 8, 16, or 32 photos by shifting the sensor by 1/2 or 1 pixel and then saving them as individual NEF files, notes DP Review.

The NFL won’t discipline Davante Adams for shoving photographer Park Zebley following a 2022 game in Kansas City, notes Pro Football Talk. Adams pushed Zebley — a University of Missouri-Kansas City student carrying video equipment for a local production company contracted with ESPN — to the ground as the player left the field following a 30-29 loss to the Chiefs at GEHA Field on Oct. 10, 2022. Prosecutors dismissed a misdemeanor assault charge against Adams last summer. But Zebley filed a lawsuit against Adams, the Raiders and the Chiefs. That trial is set for this summer.

International Center of Photography Tuesday February 20, 2024
The exhibition “David Seidner: Fragments, 1977-99,” at the international Center of Photography through May 6, is the first major survey of an important and rarely exhibited artist of the 1980s and 1990s whose work has largely faded from view since his passing from AIDS-related illnesses. During his life, Seidner was a notable fashion photographer, shoot avant-garde designs for the likes of Yves Saint Laurent, Azzedine Alaïa and Madame Grès, and magazines including Harper’s Bazaar, Vanity Fair and Bomb.
