Australian photographer Krystle Wright has made history by becoming the first female photographer to win the Red Bull Illume photo contest. Now in its 17th year, Red Bull Illume is the world’s largest adventure and action sports imagery contest, notes CNN. Wright won with a photo showing climber Angela VanWiemeersch illuminated in a crack, deep within Long Canyon, Utah. “What a spectacular feeling it was to witness the crack come alive as the darkness enveloped around us,” Wright says.

(PEAC) have announced that they are reorganizing by consolidating the Professional AV business and Panasonic Visual Co., Ltd. Panasonic explains that this move is in response to the ever-growing video content creation market, notes PetaPixel: The imaging market has grown in recent years, especially in the mirrorless cameras sector, and this growth is largely because of the popularity of video production for content creation. However, the professional sector, including cinema and broadcast production, has also grown.

Photographer Cecil Williams has been responsible for documenting much of South Carolina’s civil rights history, from covering sit-ins and prayer protests to shooting portraits of African Americans integrating universities. His dream of creating a civil rights museum is now becoming a reality, notes AP: The small museum he built in his own home is moving into a much bigger and more prominent building in the city of Orangeburg, SC. “Images can be very powerful storytelling,” said Williams, who turned 85 in November.
