State of the Art: Midjourney Leaps into AI Video Creation

The creators of AI image generator Midjourney have announced that thy will introduce a “text to video” model in the next few months. The company will begin training its video models starting this month, CEO David Holz said during an "Office Hour" Discord session. The move represents a natural progression for the platform, building on a mature image model to stir the competitive dynamics of the generative video industry, notes Decrypt. Spotlight: He's Photographing Every Native Plant in L.A. County

Matt Smith is a man on a mission, declares the Los Angeles Times. Smith, 34, aims to find and photograph every plant — a mere 2,590 — that grows natively in Los Angeles County. He has photographed about 750 plants so far, though he doesn't get paid or even recognized for his work: His Instagram page has only 4,281 followers. His motivation is personal, and unbounded.
