Tech News: Mint's New Compact Film Cam Is an AF Version of a Rollei 35

MiNT is primarily known for its instant film cameras, but a year ago the company decided to branch out into film. It’s newly announced first analog camera, the MiNT Rollei 35AF, is essentially an autofocus version of the classic Rollei 35 (which was first released in 1966). The autofocus system is a significant change and improvement over the original, notes DIYP. The case of the camera, too, has been updated to account fo the modern modifications. So notes the Monterey Museum of Art in California, which features the exhibition “Dorothea Lange: 1935-1942” though April 21. Legal Brief: Chinese Court Finds AI-Generated Image is Copyrightable, in Split with US

A court in Beijing, China, has awarded copyright status to an AI-generated image, opening what DIY Photography  calls “a new chapter in the murky legal waters of AI art.”  The finding, the first of its kind in China, “is in direct conflict with the human authorship requirement under U.S. copyright law and may have far-reaching implications.” notes the National Law Review. The case began when a Chinese artist known as Mr. Li used Stable Diffusion to create a picture of a young woman. Honor Roll: Travel Photographer of the Year Winners

Slovenian photographer AndreJa Ravnak is the overall winner of the 2023 Travel Photographer of the Year contest for her lyrical images of European agricultural landscapes, from fields of hops in Slovenia to farm land in Italy and the Czech Republic. Judges cited the “delicate colors and a textural beauty” of her photographs. An architect by profession and by vocation, Ravnak also works in a number of other creative fields, including photography and design.
