Industry News: Instax is More Than 50% of Fujifilm's Imaging Business

The appeal of instant film photography seems to be enduring: PetaPixel reports that Fujifilm’s Instax camera series already constitutes a majority of the company’s imaging business revenue—and that Fujifilm plans to push its instant film it even more, hoping to see sales increase to $1.04 billion, or 15 percent year-over-year growth by fiscal year’s end. In July, an analysis of Fujifilm’s 2022 financials revealed that Instax-related products accounted for a majority of Fujifilm’s consumer imaging segment, which had sales of 266.9 billion yen in 2022, an increase of 22 percent over the previous year.   Read the full Story >>

Honor Roll: Winners of the 2023 International Photography Awards

Thomas Broening has been named Photographer of the Year in the 20th edition of the International Photography Awards for his series of self-funded billboards, titled “The End of the Dream,” which focus on drought, fire, and housing issues in California. “By placing his striking visuals in a space typically reserved by advertisers, Broening makes an important statement,” notes My Modern Met. Amateur photographer Carlo Marrazza was named IPA 2023 Discovery of the Year for a series on goat and sheep herders in Kashmir.   Read the full Story >>

LensRentals has published its annual of most popular photo and video gear, with the Canon EOS R5 again on top. Indeed, Canon took the top three spots on the list, with the Canon RF 28-70mm f/2L lens in the second spot and the Canon RF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS lens in third. The Sony a7S III comes in fourth.
