A pilot and photographer working with a Philadelphia news station were killed on Tuesday night when their helicopter crashed in Wharton State Forest in New Jersey as it returned from an assignment at the Jersey Shore. Pilot Monroe W. Smith, 67, of Glenside, Pa., and passenger Christopher W. Dougherty, 45, of Oreland, Pa., were killed in the helicopter crash, New Jersey State Park Police announced on Wednesday. The Courier Post newspaper of southern New Jersey reports that both men were veteran employees of the TV station, 6ABC.

Get ready for more light shows in the sky, thanks to the Solar Maximum—the period of the Solar Cycle during which the highest number of sunspots appear. More sunspots result in more solar flares and a more solar wind, which, on Earth, means a heightened level of aurora activity. The National Oceanic and Aerospace Administration (NOAA) originally forecasted the peak of Solar Cycle 25 to occur in July 2025. With his biggest show yet opening at the Grand Palais Éphémère in Paris, photographer Juergen Teller has been explaining himself, or at least trying to. “It’s the things I like, it’s how I see things and how curious I am,” he told The Wall Street Journal, speaking about his body of work. He tells WSJ that his hater are “all wrong.” Meanwhile, AnOther asked Teller 50 questions about himself and his career. Asked if he has a favorite iPhone editing app, he replies, “I don’t even know exactly what that is. I don’t really have an app.”
