Midjourney version 6, the latest and greatest iteration of the popular image generation AI model from the research collective of the same name founded by David Holz, is getting raves from power users, notes VentureBeat. The new version features “drastically improved and more realistic, highly detailed images,” adds VB, and the ability to have the model generate legible text within images. It also has improved in terms of image prompting and the ability to remix images, notes DIY Photography.

Among the 25 defining art events of 2023 spotlighted by Art News, two involved the photography world: One was the controversy that erupted after artist Boris Eldagsen won the World Photography Organization’s Sony World Photography Awards with an AI-created image. He then forfeited the prize. The other big event was the U.S. Supreme Court’s ruling in favor of photographer Lynn Goldsmith in her legal battle with the Andy Warhol Foundation, setting a new precedent for how the fair use doctrine is applied in copyright cases.

Adobe achieved record revenue of $19.41 billion in fiscal year 2023 and jumped into the AI revolution with its Firefly 2 engine. On the other hand, its been facing some challenges, including, as we noted recently, an FTC investigation into product subscriptions. Now, reports VPN Overview, Adobe is being sued by a Dutch privacy watchdog group for illegally collecting and selling personal data of users. According to the privacy group, Stichting Data Bescherming Nederland (SDBN), Adobe collects data about Dutch internet users via tracking cookies and code embedded in various popular websites and apps.
