Daniel Arnold is an opportunist, in the best sense of the word, notes Dazed: The noted street photographer is “always chasing” those comic, odd, poignant, beautiful, frenetic, absurd moments that comprise each day in the life of New York City. Arnold first gained recognition for his photographs after posting pictures in the early days of Instagram; his latest exhibition, “New York Life,” brings together a selection of pictures from his archive. “I operate on spontaneity and chance. I’m a wandering collector,” he says.

“Horrified by the increase in incidents of children being killed by guns, I have been compelled to address the issue with a stark visual response,” notes photographer Arne Svenson, who hit on a new way to portray such violence. “Instead of portraying the victims and their tragic stories, I show the houses, parks and streets where the killings will happen in the near future. Guided by gun-violence data I locate each incident address and, via internet imagery, ‘photograph’ the scene.” The result is the exhibition “The Future Passed” at the Robert Klein Gallery.
