The app that started the photo-sharing revolution, Hipstamatic, has announced the release of Hispstamatic v10.0, calling it a complete reinvention of the Hipstamatic Camera app. The new version introduces an analog viewfinder and menu system. Multiple exposures are now possible with hard flash. Other features include new developing modes and a manual mode with presets. It’s available to download now, notes DIY Photography. There were rumors that Hipstamatic was getting ready to release an actual camera, but a real-life Hipstamatic camera is not a thing.

It’s that time when publications release their “pictures of the year” portfolio. The Atlantic’s In Focus blog does an outstanding job once again with a series of posts, including one featuring the top news photos of the year. (Among the selections: a shot of the Las Vegas Sphere lighting up for the first time on July 4 by Greg Doherty (Getty Images). The blog also has posts looking back at major and minor events during the early, middle, and final months of 2023. It’s been a remarkable year.

Palm Beach Photographic Centre Thursday December 28, 2023
The FOTOfusion Festival is returning to the Palm Beach Photographic Centre in West Palm Beach, Florida, from Jan. 30 to Feb 3. Beside its lineup of workshops, lectures, hands-on computer classes and portfolio reviews, the 29th edition of the festival will celebrate the career of photojournalist David Burnett, who will receive the FOTOmentor Award 2024. Previous FOTOmentor Awards winners include Keith Carter, Maggie Steber, Carol Guzy, Brian Skerry, Douglas Kirkland, and Walter Ioos, Jr.
