Prince William and Kate Middleton have released their 2023 family Christmas card photo, sparking analysis. With no ornate setting or festive background, the black-and-white photo “doesn’t scream Christmas — or royalty,” notes People magazine. The pomp was left to King Charles and Queen Camilla, whose Christmas card photo is a regal shot taken in the Throne Room of Buckingham Palace following their coronation in May. Media Watch: Newsletter Platform Substack Takes Aim at YouTube and TikTok

Substack, a platform created largely for newsletters, is rolling out a suite of new video creation and editing tools — a sign, notes The Washington Post, of how critical video has become to gaining audience on the internet. The focus on video means that Substack may now be forced to compete for talent with video-focused social media behemoths like YouTube, TikTok and Instagram.
