Trending: Researcher Uncovers Origin of Iconic Album Cover

In November of 1971, Led Zeppelin released its iconic fourth album—widely known as “Led Zeppelin IV,” with the band’s hit song “Stairway to Heaven.” The album’s wordless cover featured an image of a bearded, older man with a large bundle of sticks on his back. Now, 52 years later, notes The New York Times, a photo researcher has uncovered the origin of the image: Sometimes thought to have been a painting, it was actually a Victorian-era photograph of a man who made thatched roofs for cottages in southwestern England.   Read the full Story >>

Followup: CEWE Photo Awards Suspends Winner Who Staged Picture

The CEWE Photo Awards has suspended the overall winner of its 2023 competition after the photographer provided “untrue and misleading information,” notes PetaPixel. As PP reported recently, the winning photo of the photo competition, which bills itself as the “world’s largest,” was found to have been staged. CEWE points out that staged photographs are not in direct violation of the competition’s terms and conditions; however, the misleading information provided by the photographer led them to suspend her award.   Read the full Story >>
