The decision by this year’s PhotoVogue Festival to showcase AI-generated imagery alongside traditional photography is stirring debate, notes Feature Shoot. State of the Art: Generative AI Image Editing is Coming to Instagram

Meta is starting to make good on its promise to bring generative AI to all of its products. At its recent Connect event, the company revealed new AI image editing and sticker-creation features for Instagram, notes Engadget. One tool, called “restyle,” allows users to remix their existing photos into different looks. With another, called “backdrop,” users can type prompts like “put me in front of a sublime aurora borealis,” and it will create a new version of the image with the relevant background applied.   Read the full Story >>

Indian photographer Gauri Gill has been named the winner of the 10th cycle of the Prix Pictet, the global award for photography and sustainability, notes The Guardian. Launched in 2008 by a Swiss multinational private bank and financial services company to focus attention on environmental issues, the Prix Pictet is one of the richest awards in photography—Gill wins 100,000 Swiss Francs (about $109,219) for her work: For more than two decades, she has been closely engaged with marginalized communities in India.   Read the full Story >>

Announced in August, Tamron's unique 17-50mm F4 Di III VXD lens for Sony E-mount is ready for prime time, declares DP Review: Tamron says the lens will be available starting October 19, 2023 for a price of $699. This is the first-ever 17-50mm lens for Sony E-mount mirrorless cameras, and it's fairly compact at 114.4mm (4.5in) long and 460g (16.2oz).
