Another reminder that the deadline for submitting applications for the 14th edition of the Carmignac Photojournalism Award is Oct. 17, at 11:59 GMT. This year's award will support a project aimed at documenting in writing and images the condition of the lives of women and girls in Afghanistan. The laureates receive a €50,000 grant to carry out a 6-month field report with the support of the Fondation Carmignac, which produces, upon their return, a traveling exhibition and the publication of a monograph.

Photography is good for you: The United Kingdom has introduced a new pilot scheme which allows healthcare professionals to prescribe photography as a mental health treatment, notes DIY Photography. The trial initiative is being launched collaboratively by the Wex Photo Video camera store in London with support from the National Academy of Social Prescribing. “The idea is to boost self-esteem, reduce stress, and combat loneliness through the power of photography,” explains Digital Camera World.

During a career spanning more than 30 years, Michel Haddi has photographed some of the world’s leading celebrities and models for magazines and advertising campaigns, notes CNN, which spotlight’s Haddi’s latest book Tupac: The Legend. Released on the anniversary of rapper Tupac Shakur's death in Las Vegas in 1996, and coming with the indictmentlast week of a man charged with Shakur's murder, the book revisits the photographer’s portrait session with Tupac, originally commissioned for hip hop magazine The Source. The shoot was kismet, Haddi says.
