Spotlight: 'Incredible' Colorization from Stuart Humphryes

For his latest project, digital artist and photo restorer Stuart Humphryes employed the latest color technology to restore images taken in the early 20th century, notes PetaPixel, which calls the results “incredible.” Each image in his series “The Colors of Life” takes an average of several hours to clean up scratches and dust, repair damages, and fix light levels. State of the Art: Google Adds Switch for Publishers to Opt Out of AI Training Data

Google has announced that it’s giving website publishers a way to opt out of having their data used to train the company’s AI models while remaining accessible through Google Search. The new tool, called Google-Extended, allows sites to continue to get scraped and indexed by crawlers like the Googlebot while avoiding having their data used to train AI models as they develop over time, notes The Verge. Photojournalist Salwan Georges is the top prize winner of the 2023 Siena International Photo Awards for his image of a Ukrainian family being torn apart by war. In his photo, titled “Georgy,” the Pulitzer-Prize-winning photographer, who is on staff at The Washington Post, captured the moment when Georgy Keburia “said goodbye to his wife and children as they boarded a train to Lviv.
