Are you worried about artificial Intelligence? You're not alone: The Royal Photographic Society surveyed its members about their views on generative AI and a large majority of respondents said they were concerned about how AI models are trained and how AI affects the value of photography. To the question, “Do we need traditional photography if images created by AI are better and quicker to create than photographs taken by people?” 95% of respondents said “yes,” while 2% and 3%, respectively, answered “no” and “maybe.” See also: PetaPixel.

Nature TTL Photographer of the Year Tuesday September 26, 2023
Canadian photographer Thomas Vijayan is the overall winner of the 2023 Nature TTL Photographer of the Year contest for his image “Austfonna Ice Cap” — a striking shot of waterfalls pouring off the world’s third-largest ice cap, on Nordaustlandet Island in Norway’s Svalbard archipelago. “It is melting at alarming rates due to global warming and contributing to rising sea levels,” notes Vijayan. “Although I had been here before,” he adds, "it was disheartening to see the sea ice had melted in June.”

A new beta release of Premiere Pro adds cutting-edge artificial intelligence for a couple of exciting features, including Enhance Speech, notes PetaPixel. The new tool uses AI to “magically remove background noise and improve the quality of poorly recorded dialogue,” says the company. Text-based editing was introduced to Premiere Pro in May, adds DIY Photography: The AI-powered text-to-speech engine allows you to transcribe your video and enables you to select, edit and shift around clips on your timeline simply by selecting and editing the text.
