Trending: Child Influencers in Illinois Can Now Sue Their Parents

Illinois is the first state in America to pass a law protecting child influencers and social media stars, making sure they are paid for appearing in videos posted to monetized online platforms like TikTok and YouTube, notes Mashable. The new law will amend the state's Child Labor Law. Those filming the videos — namely parents — are now legally responsible for keeping records of any appearances of kids in their content as well as the number of vlogs that generated compensation, and must put aside gross earnings in a trust account for when the child turns 18. Industry News: Halfway Through 2023, How's the Camera Market Doing?

While the overall number of digital cameras shipped in June was slightly below what was shipped the month prior, at a decrease of 5.2% compared to May, the total shipments from June 2023 are at around the same level as in June 2022, with a slight decline of just 1.9% year over year, notes DP Review. Looking back at the year so far, the trend appears steadier, with shipments between January and June 2023 at around 98.5% of where they were during the same period the year prior.   Read the full Story >>
