The reopening of the National Portrait Gallery in London has “heralded the start of the summer of portraiture,” notes the Tatler, whose digital picture editor, Sinah Bruckner, recently looked back at the legacies of nine society photographers: Cecil Beaton, Slim Aarons, Madame Yevonde, Richard Avedon, Norman Parkinson, Lady Clementina Hawarden, Lord Snowdon, Annie Leibovitz and Tyler Mitchell—whose approach to his work, notes Bruckner, has helped inspire a return to analog photography among his peers.

While the interchangeable lens camera market is on the upswing, the mobile market is going the other way, notes PetaPixel. Sony, the world’s largest supplier of camera sensors for smartphones, says that demand for smartphones won’t pick up until 2024 at the earliest, noted Bloomberg recently. That prediction is based on lower demand from China, whose economy is struggling, as well as the U.S. Manufacturing yield issues of sensors have additionally posed challenges for the iPhone 15’s production.

DJI has issued a warning to customers about the risk of scams in downloading apps for its product from third-party sources, notes Drone DJ. The company urges users to obtain operating interfaces only from its own service. A number of users have reported downloading fake apps from the Google Play Store. The apps are said to present both potential security risks and scams that take your money, adds DIY Photography. According to one report, a user downloaded a fake DJI Fly app from the Google Play Store where he was to be charged $40 after a free “3-day trial”. (Google refunded the money.)
