Tech News: Free Gyroflow Software Gives You 'Rock-Steady' Video Footage

Gyroflow 1.5.1 has been released with improved support for Sony, Blackmagic and Insta360, along with multiple video aspect ratio presets, notes DIY Photography. (It also supports a range of drone cameras, such as those from RunCam, Caddx and Hawkeye.) The free software looks at the gyro data written to the video file and sees exactly how the camera moved from one frame to the next in order to correct and stabilize it. Call for Applications: The Carmignac Photojournalism Award

The 14th edition of the Carmignac Photojournalism Award will support a project aimed at documenting in writing and images abuses committed by the Taliban in Afghanistan following the capture of Kabul in 2021. (Amnesty International and the International Commission of Jurists have urged the International Criminal Court to qualify the abuses as “crime against humanity,” notes the Fondation Carmignac.) State of the Art: Meta Says Its New Art-Generating Model is Best-in-Class

While the quality of image generators has improved over the past year, it’s been an incremental, sometimes agonizing progress. But Meta claims to have had a breakthrough, notes TechCrunch. The company says its newly announced CM3Leon AI model achieves state-of-the-art performance for text-to-image generation. CM3Leon leverages a mechanism called “attention” to weigh the relevance of input data such as text or images. It is also one of the first image generators capable of generating captions for images, laying the groundwork for more capable image-understanding models going forward, Meta says.   Read the full Story >>
