June Newton didn’t anticipate a life behind the camera; she began her career in front of the camera and on the stage. (She became a star in the Australian film industry in the 1940s.) But fate would lead her in another direction. Alongside her husband, the photographer Helmut Newton, whom she met in 1947, she would become one of the most sought-after photographic portraitists of her era. To celebrate what would have been her 100th birthday, a major retrospective has opened at the Helmut Newton Foundation in Berlin. AnOther spotlights the show.

Google Domains has been a quick and easy place to buy a dot com (or dot net, or dot studio, even) for your photo business, but now, reports The Verge, the company is giving up on the registrar business and selling its assets to website builder Squarespace. The deal includes 10 million domains owned by Google customers. The agreement between Google and Squarespace includes assurances that customers will get the same renewal prices available to them for the next 12 months. Squarespace also agreed to provide “incentives” for customers to build their website with the company’s platform.

In times gone by, photography was marginalized at Art Basel—literally: Most camera-based art was siloed into a corner of the main section of the art fair. This year, however, a shift seems to be taking place, notes The Art Newspaper. A deeper, broader and more diverse range of photography, across vintage, Modern and contemporary, is now on sale at Art Basel. The change reflect a broader shift that has seen mega-galleries representing photographers, adds TAN. The Guardian also noticed photography’s rise at the art fair.

Adobe Photoshop’s new Generative Fill tool allows users to extend a photo beyond its original borders. But how does it stack up against DALL-E’s Outpainting tool? PetaPixel runs a test to find out, giving each program the same source photos and the same amount of empty pixels to generate into. The test employs nighttime photos, portraits, architecture photos, wildlife photos and landscape photos. And the winner is: Photoshop Generative Fill, which does the more professional job.
