This year marks the 100th anniversary of Avedon’s birth, and he’s being treated to quite the party, notes the Robb Report. In January the Metropolitan Museum of Art opened an exhibition of his monumental murals (through October 1), and In May, New York City's Gagosian gallery is mounting the exhibition “Avedon 100” featuring 150 works by the photographer. Then on May 1 and 2, several iconic Avedon images will be among the highlights at the first in a series of Sotheby’s auctions of the Pilara Family Foundation’s acclaimed Pier 24 collection.

How popular is Ricoh’s new Pentax K-3 III Monochrome? The company has already sold out of its Japanese allocation of Pentax K-3 Mark III Monochrome cameras twice, notes PetaPixel: While the camera doesn’t start shipping until the end of April, pre-orders have flooded the company to the degree that it’s not going to have any more available for at least a couple of months. So maybe DSLRs aren’t dead. The monochrome version of the Pentax K-3 Mark III (price $2,200) features a 25.7-megapixel BSI CMOS sensor and offers processing modes, allowing for options such as high or low-contrast photography, notes DIY Photography.

American Express has opened a 55th-floor restaurant at the new One Vanderbilt skyscraper in Manhattan, but it’s only for holders of the company’s rare Centurion Card. If have that elite piece of plastic, you’ll be able to enjoy food by famed chef Daniel Boulud, which, notes Bloomberg, "delivers enough drama and decadence to pull your attention away from the knockout city views.” (Order the hand-chopped Imperial Wagyu tartare, and enjoy a carbon martini made with squid ink!) There’s also some art on the walls by the likes of Nan Goldin and Diane Arbus.
