The “Accidentally Wes Anderson” photography collection takes viewers to secret places around the globe, unveiling a utopia of pastel tones, pleasing symmetry, and striking patterns—in other words, the kind of whimsical visual aesthetic the film director features in his movies, notes Design Boom. The collection of images by various photographers reflects sites found in Anderson’s films, such as Furka Pass in Switzerland, London, Creepland, Ohio, and Willemstad on Curacao Island. It’s headed for an exhibition in Tokyo.

World Press Photo has announced the regional winners and honorable mentions for its 2023 contest. “The single shots, stories, and long-term and multimedia projects feature not only those news items that dominated headlines in 2022, but also lesser-known and intimate stories that explore equally pressing issues,” notes Hyperallergic. To offer a more global and better geographic balance of perspectives, the World Press Photo Foundation launched its regional strategy last year. International Center of Photography Monday April 3, 2023
Colette Veasey-Cullors has been named dean and deputy director of the International Center of Photography’s school. An educator, artist, and photographer, Veasey-Cullors joins ICP from the Maryland Institute College of Art, where she currently serves as the Interim Vice Provost for Undergraduate Studies. The first person of color to helm the school, she will begin her tenure on June 15, adds The Art Newspaper. “Veasey-Cullors shares ICP’s vision of photography as a powerful catalyst in international culture,” David E. Little, ICP’s executive director, said in a statement.
