Art News: Smithsonian Puts 4.5 Million Images In the Public Domain

The world's largest museum has made more images from its collection available to the public, raising the number of its assets in the public domain to 4.5 million, notes My Modern Met. Available at Smithsonian Open Access platform, the images can be downloaded, reused, and remixed under the Creative Commons Zero license. Books: 'The New Big 5' Focuses on Wildlife at Risk

Originally a term used by trophy hunters in Africa, the “Big Five” described the animals most challenging to shoot and kill: the lion, elephant, leopard, rhino, and buffalo. However, British photographer Graeme Green has reclaimed the narrative, creating a global “New Big Five” for wildlife photography, notes CNN. In 2021, 50,000 people around the world voted for the five animals they would most like to photograph, or see photographed. Tech News: Sony's ZV-E1 Is a Full-Frame Camera for Vloggers

Sony has announced an addition to its ever-growing line of cameras targeted at video content creators, specifically vloggers, with the ZV-E1—its first to feature a 35mm full-frame sensor. “If the $800 Sony ZV-1 and the $500 Sony ZV-1F were targeted at hobbyist vloggers, the new $2,200 ZV-E1 is going after those who’ve been in the game for a while,” notes Gizmodo. “It’s looking to be a compelling mid-range alternative to Sony’s higher-end Alpha cameras, including the Sony A7S III, from which the new ZV-E1 takes its 12MP sensor.”   Read the full Story >>
