Bringing a new life into the world is one of the most powerful of human experiences, and thanks to birth photographers, families are able to have a record of these moments, notes My Modern Met, which spotlights the winners of the annual Birth Photography Image Competition from the International Association of Professional Birth Photographers. Now in its 13th year, the competition is open to the 1,100 members of IAPBP from 52 countries, who submit work to four categories—birth details, labor, delivery, and postpartum.

YouTube is introducing an “enhanced” 1080p HD video quality for Premium subscribers, but, notes The Verge, the higher quality video is available only on iOS for now, with the option coming to the web soon. According to YouTube, the new 1080p Premium option is “an enhanced bitrate version of 1080p” that’s supposed to make things look crisper, particularly with videos heavy on detail and motion. YouTube started testing the feature earlier this year and had some worried that the company would nerf the existing 1080p option for nonsubscribers. Fortunately, the standard 1080p option isn’t going anywhere.

Here’s a fact you can toss around at your next cocktail party: The global art trade generated $67.8 billion in 2022 according to an annual survey published by Art Basel and UBS. That figure marks a 3 percent increase over the $61.5 billion reported last year for 2022 and is 6 percent above the pre-pandemic figure of $64 billion reported in 2019. Although the overall sales figure for this year was higher than the market’s pre-pandemic level, the report’s findings described the 2022 picture for dealers, auction houses and others players in the trade as one of “muted growth,” notes Art News.
