J. Paul Getty Museum Wednesday January 4, 2023
“For more than forty years, Los Angeles–based artist Uta Barth has made photographs that investigate the act of looking. In her multipart works, she explores the ephemeral qualities of light and its ability to overwhelm and entirely destabilize human vision,” notes LA’s J. Paul Getty Museum, which hosts the exhibition “Uta Barth: Peripheral Vision” through February 19. The exhibition traces Barth’s career from her early experimentations as a student to later studies of the camera’s role in helping an artist translate visual information.

National Press Photographers Association Wednesday January 4, 2023
The 2023 Best of Photojournalism competition is accepting entries through 11:59 p.m. on Jan. 24. The competition is split into six primary divisions: Still Photojournalism, Video Photojournalism, Picture Editing, Video Editing, Online Video Presentation & Innovation, and Documentary. The entry is free for NPPA members. Contest judging will take place during the weekend of February 25-26, and all results will be posted on this site shortly thereafter.
