Razer says its new 4K webcam, the $299.99 Kiyo Pro Ultra, can deliver DSLR-like video quality with its 1/1.2-inch Sony Starvis 2 sensor— the largest ever in a webcam. The webcam offers an f/1.7 aperture that should allow for natural-looking bokeh and solid low-light performance, too, notes The Verge. Razer says the Kiyo Pro Ultra can deliver uncompressed 4K video at 24fps or 1440p/30fps, and it can capture 1080p at 60fps or 30fps with HDR. The winter war in Ukraine has become a grim stalemate with each side going toe to toe at Bakhmut in one of the longest-running battles of the year-long conflict. For Russia, capturing Bakhmut would be the most significant success in months. For Ukraine, Bakhmut is a national symbol of defiance, notes The New York Times in a report featuring photography by Nicole Tung. “It’s a place like Verdun in the First World War, where each side is trying to bleed out the other,” says Lt. Gen. Frederick B. Hodges, the former American commander in Europe.

The International Center of Photography has announced its 2023 Infinity Awards honorees. The Lifetime Achievement Award goes to Ming Smith, known best for her black-and-white street photography and for images of well-known black cultural figures, from Nina Simone t0 Grace Jones and Alice Coltrane. The Contemporary Photography and New Media award goes to Poulomi Basu, whose first photo book, Centralia, was published in 2020. The Documentary Practice and Visual Journalism award goes to Arkansas-based Zora J Murff, The Critical Writing, Research, and Theory goes to Ariella Aïsha Azoulay.
