The Aftermath Project is now accepting applications for its $25,000 post-conflict grant, which supports a photographer working on a project that explores “the cost of war and the price of peace.” The grant is open to working photographers covering post-conflict stories anywhere in the world. One winner and four finalists will be chosen. Deadline for applications: March 10. The winners should named by the end of March.

This year will be a real treat in terms of astronomical events, with a slew of remarkable sightings set to light up the sky, from shooting stars to a Super Blue Moon and the Ring of Fire eclipse, notes The Washington Post. Annular solar eclipses, commonly known as “ring of fire” eclipses, occur when the Earth, the moon and the sun are all in alignment, but the moon is too far from the Earth to completely block it. Nearly all of North America will be able to see a partial solar eclipse in Oct., but the fiery show is reserved for only certain parts of the country.

A great photo book is a perfect combination of photography, design and narrative, notes AnOther, which looks ahead to some of the titles that will be appearing in 2023—from blockbuster retrospectives to vernacular curiosities. Among them: photographer Nick Waplington’s Comprehensive, which as the title suggests is a sumo-sized survey of his career.
