Art News: Mastercard Launches Web3-Focused Artist Incubator

Mastercard, one of the biggest financial payments providers in the world, is launching a web3-focused incubator to help artists connect with fans through a new medium, notes TechCrunch. The company shared the news at CES in Las Vegas. Mastercard partnered with Polygon, a scaling blockchain built on top of Ethereum. After joining the incubator, participating artists should know how to mint NFTs, represent themselves in virtual worlds and establish a community, a company spokesman said.   Read the full Story >>

Underneath soft light from the moon or the early morning sun, Finnish photographer Mikko Lagerstedt captures the quiet magic and mystery of Nordic landscapes, declares Colossal. Lagerstedt often focuses on unique colors and textures, including stars dotting a deep blue sky, lines etched into the earth’s surface by the wind, and strips of pastel light. Industry News: Shutterfly is Closing Down Share Sites and Limiting Cloud Storage

In March, Shutterfly will shut down its Share Sites service, which allows users to create free photo-sharing websites that can be published publicly or made available privately to friends and family or groups like teams, coworkers, or classmates, notes PetaPixel. Shutterfly will also be limiting free unlimited photo storage. The company says it will now require “Active Participation” in its services in order to use its free unlimited photo storage. Honor Roll: IPA 2022 Winners

Czech photographer Martin Stranka is the winner of the Special Photographer of the Year prize in the 2022 International Photography Awards competition for his portrait series “Beautiful Accidents,” which, as he notes. “maps the narrow line between aesthetic beauty and the fateful event.” The work, he adds, is an “attempt is to find out to what extent can be aestheticized the accident that the viewer witnesses and thus becomes a part of it.” There are also prizes for advertising, editorial, nature and other categories.   Read the full Story >>
