And yet, she tells The Washington Post, “during the last year of her life, we found an intimacy we’d never had before.” Grinker's photographs documenting her mother’s descent into dementia have been named the winner of this year's Bob and Diane Fund Award—a photo prize that encourages visual storytellers to produce stories about Alzheimer’s disease or dementia to raise awareness about these diseases.

An Iranian photographer planning to shoot at the World Cup tournament has been arrested and imprisoned in his home country, reports Journalism Is Not a Crime. The photographer, Arya Jafari , was reportedly arrested at his home on Sept. 25. Jafari may have been detained in order to stop pictures of protests which followed a young woman’s death in custody from being shared and released internationally, adds Metro. News of his arrest was originally shared on Instagram by his friend and colleague, Amir Hosseini. Jafari was previously detained after protests in 2014 that were triggered by a spate of acid attacks against women.

The dating site Bumble has released its annual predictions of dating trends for the coming year, neatly summarized by Mashable, which notes that over the past year, relationship priorities have shifted, with people favoring increased vulnerability and mindfulness, including sober (curious) dating. The trend of Winter Coating has emerged, whereby people reach out to former partners and exes “in a bid to rekindle an extinguished flame so they'll have someone to keep them warm over winter.”
