Is Hollywood about to be taken over by an algorithm? A group of filmmakers say they have used the chatbot AI ChatGPT (see The NY Times) to not only generate some ideas for a short film, but to also write the script, create a shot list, and direct the film, notes NoFilmSchool. “I could easily see AI leading to personalized movies where you can see any variation of any film you’ve ever wanted,” says one of the producers, AI entrepreneur and rocket scientist Aaron Kemmer.

Tom Wood glides through British people’s everyday lives with his Leica, finding beauty in the most unexpected places, notes Blind. In his new book Snatch Out of Time, the extraordinary sometimes appears out of the ordinary. The book follows the photographer’s friends and family as well as those of strangers he encounters. The goal is to evoke rather than compile. "That’s what this book is about,” Wood says. The work is also on view through January 14 at the Galerie Sit Downin Paris.

Deborah Willis, an artist and historian whose game-changing exhibitions and books have reshaped the study of photography, has won the $200,000 Don Tyson Prize for the Advancement of American Art, an award given out by the Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art in Bentonville, Arkansas. Much of Willis’s work has dealt with the history of Black photography, specifically as it relates to gender. She is currently chair of the Department of Photography & Imaging at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts.
