Capture the Atlas has published its annual Northern Lights Photographer of the Year picks, featuring what Dan Zafra, editor of the travel and photography blog, considers the best photos of the aurora borealis or australis captured from around the world. This year’s 25 selected images were made by photographers of 13 different nationalities in places ranging from the United States and Canada to Finland, Norway, Denmark, Iceland, Russia, Greenland, and New Zealand. Social News: Facebook Threatens to Ban News Content in US Over Journalism Bill

Meta is making threats. In October, the company warned it would block sharing of news content on its platform in Canada over concerns about legislation introduced in that country that would compel digital platforms to pay news publishers. Now, reports The Verge, Meta is threatening to ban news content in the U.S. if Congress passes the Journalism Competition and Preservation Act, which would allow publishers to negotiate with platforms like Facebook and Google over the distribution of their content.   Read the full Story >>

Legal Brief: Cardi B Faces Lawsuit Over Marge Simpson Costume

Can you be sued over a Halloween  ostume? If you’re Cardi B, the answer is yes. The “Up” rapper dressed as Marge Simpson (draped in Thierry Mugler) this year and posted a series of images on Instagram taken by photographer Jora Frantzis. Artist aleXsandro Palombo is claiming that one of the photographs is directly lifted from a piece in his 2013 series “Marge Simpson Style Icon.” Palumbo’s lawyer issued a formal notice to Craig Kallman, chairperson of Atlantic Records, as well as Frantzis and Cardi’s stylist Kollin Carter, notes Vibe.
