Twitter users fleeing the toxic chaos wrought by Elon Musk are looking for alternatives, and now Instagram is given them one with its new Notes feature. With Notes, users can update their friends using just text and emoji, adding a different format for social updates beyond the images and videos Instagram is best known for, notes TechCrunch, which explains how the feature works. Instagram has also released a BeReal clone called Candid Stories, which allows users to share an image that includes a snapshot from both front and back smartphone cameras, adds The Verge.

This item isn’t about photography, though creators of all kinds my be interested in the things that over time have inspired art. One of those things, apparently, is the penis. Art News reports that the world’s oldest narrative scene is an 11,000-year-old carving depicting a man holding his penis while surrounded by leopards. The two-panel carving was discovered by archaeologists in Turkey. “These figures, engraved together to depict a narrative, are the first known examples of such a holistic scene,” explained Eylem Özdoan, an archaeologist at Istanbul University.

The weather outside may be frightful, but snowflakes are delightful. “They’re these transient structures made out of water vapor and dust, and they’re ethereal. They’re here for a short period of time and then they’re gone,” says Colorado-based photographer Jason Persoff, who has been taking pictures of snowflakes for six years. Instagram chief Adam Mosseri took to Twitter recently to announced that IG is expanding its Account Status feature so professional accounts can understand if their content may be eligible to be recommended to non-followers. The feature will show creators whether their content is approved to be shown on the Explore section. For normal Instagram users, this probably doesn't matter, but for influencers and those that are trying to create a following, this is crucial, notes QXDA.
