Trending: Analog Photography Is Driving Silver Demand

A new report from The Silver Institute shows that demand for silver went up by 19 percent in 2021, and part of the rise is due to the resurgence in analog photography. “For more than a century, silver-halide photography was the predominant technology used for recording images with cameras,” notes the study, titled World Silver Survey 2022. The advent of digital cameras brought a decline of silver use in photography, but last year witnessed an increase in silver’s use in photography of 3 percent over 2021, with more people today are taking pictures on film.    Read the full Story >>

Nature and wildlife photography David duChemin halted many of his projects during the covid pandemic, but the lull gave him time to rethink how he approaches photography, notes Pop Photo. “All of a sudden, a lot of the unnecessary things that filled my days fell away,” he says. The forced pause also gave him a chance to look back at his own work. “I always say to students that there are two ways to make photographs. Legal Brief: Judge Dismisses Suit Over Nirvana Album Cover, Once More

This may sound familiar: A federal judge on Friday dismissed a lawsuit filed by Spencer Elden, who as a baby appeared on the cover of Nirvana’s seminal album “Nevermind” and argued 30 years later that the iconic photo of him drifting naked in a pool had been a form of sexual exploitation. The judge, Fernando M. Olguin, ruled that Elden had waited too long to file his lawsuit, notes The New York Times. Honor Roll: Festival of Ethical Photography Winners and Shortlist

The Festival of Ethical Photography, created to celebrate photography dealing with content judged to be ethically significant, takes place in Lodi in northern Italy from September 24 to October 23. The festival has released its shortlist for 2022, drawn from almost 850 submissions from 741 photographers from 60 countries and 5 continents. Brazilian photographer Felipe Fittipaldi is the winner in the Master category for his Eustasy series documenting the rising waters in Atafona, northeast of Rio De Janeiro in Brazil.
