Meta has begun testing new NFT features across Instagram and Facebook with select users in the US, notes Art News. Testers are able to connect their digital wallets to Instagram and/or Facebook, post their verified NFTs, and tag creators and collectors. Meta has not referred to “NFTs” in posts or statements about the new move, instead referring to “digital collectibles.” So far, Ethereum and Polygon are the only blockchains supported, but Meta has said it plans to later include Solana and Flow. William Klein, an American expatriate photographer whose often frenetic and sometimes blurred images of urban street life and modern fashion were wildly innovative while conveying the pointed social criticism of a self-declared outsider, died Sept. 10 in Paris. He was 96, reports The Washington Post. “I came from the outside, the rules of photography didn’t interest me,” he once said. Vogue art director Alexander Liberman who said he saw in Klein “a wonderful iconoclastic talent,” put him under contract to the fashion magazine from 1955 to 1965. Read the full Story >>

When are cherry-topped whipped-cream desserts more than what they seem? When they’re photographed by artist Jo Ann Callis for a fine-art image titled “Jayne Mansfield.” The work is included in an exhibition at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art called “Objects of Desire: Photography and the Language of Advertising,” which looks at how photographers since the 1970s have used the visual language of adverting to challenge the increased commodification of daily life.
