Indian wildlife photographer Hardik Shelat was rewarded with the photograph of a lifetime after waiting nearly eight hours in the scorching heat at the Gir National Park in Gujarat, India. Thanks to his perseverance, Shelat was able to capture an image of an Asiatic lion drinking from a natural watering hole. “I always consider the season and weather, as India is a vast country with different weather patterns. Hasselblad calls its newly announced flagship camera, the X2D 100C, a “next generation” camera, and here’s what the next generation looks like: The $8,200 camera features a 100-megapixel backside illuminated sensor, phase detection hybrid autofocus, in-body image stabilization, and 15-stops of dynamic range with 16-bit color. One of the most influential photographers working today, as Art News notes, Tillmans is the subject of an expansive survey at the Museum of Modern Art (through Jan. 1, 2023). APA New York is inviting all APA Members (and those photographers who would like to be members) to participate in its first juried, open photography competition and exhibition at the Soho Photo Gallery. The one-week, open-gallery event, to be held December 6 to 11, will give each artist a chance to promote their work; to assist, APA NY will be inviting art buyers and editors from all around the New York area.
