The world's most popular blockchain platform is about to undergo a radical change that will make it greener and pave the way for many optimizations—a move that could be immensely important for the nascent spaces of decentralized finance and NFTs, notes Mashable. An upgrade to the Ethereum platform (called The Merge) ditches traditional mining – in which powerful computers solve math puzzles to run the network and create new coins – and switches to a system where owners of the underlying currency, ether or ETH, can stake it (proof-of-stake) in order to power the network. Clancy Gebler Davies had an award-winning photo withdrawn from an international show after a fellow photographer claimed he took the image. “Gebler Davies was delighted when the British Journal of Photography (BJP) informed her that she was the Female in Focus 2021 single image winner for her self-portrait where she is covered in hair. However, photographer William Corbett claims authorship to the image, entitled Hersuit, because he pressed the button on the camera and suggested that he had made creative decisions,” notes PP. Zenfolio has unveiled PhotoRefine.ai – a desktop app that uses artificial intelligence to reduce the amount of time photographers typically spend grouping, rating and culling images after a photo session. The new tool applies AI “to analyze a set of images, then uses blur detection, closed/blinking eye evaluation, image sharpness and exposure to rate each individual image and highlight the best of a group,” explains the company.
