The UK’s National Portrait Gallery has announced the three photographers shortlisted for the Taylor Wessing Photographic Portrait Prize 2022. They are Haneem Christian for the series "Mother and Daughter" and "Rooted," which explore queerness, transness and the importance of chosen family; Clémentine Schneidermann for the series "Laundry Day," which documents the daily life of her neighbor in South Wales during in lockdown; and Alexander Komenda for "Zahid’s Son," a portrait that examines themes of identity in post-Soviet Kyrgyzstan. The number of photobook publishing companies has increased dramatically over the past two decades. Before 1999, there were approximately 92 presses compared to over 480 operating in 2021.

A French scientist has apologized after tweeting a photo of a slice of chorizo, claiming it was an image of a distant star taken by the James Webb Space Telescope, notes CNN. Étienne Klein, a celebrated physicist and director at France's Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy Commission, shared the image of the spicy Spanish sausage on Twitter last week, saying it was a photo of Proxima Centauri, the nearest star to the Sun.
