The body of a 61-year-old hiker found at the base of a 100-foot cliff near Pearl City, Oahu, has been identified as Nate Yuen, a celebrated photographer and environmental activist, notes SF Gate. Search organizers say Yuen went for a hike on Sunday but never came home. Yuen, a member of the Sierra Club of Hawai'i, photographed the islands throughout his career while advocating for environmental issues. Meanwhile, DIY Photography reports that Florida photographer Sean Nagel lost his life in a bizarre accident at Rock beach in Martin County, Florida. Update from the unfriendly skies: Rolling Stone reports that an unidentified amateur photographer is suing American Airlines for defamation, false imprisonment and emotional distress, among other charges, stemming from an in-flight disturbance that allegedly began when another passenger mistook the man’s vintage camera equipment for an explosive device. The incident, which resulted in the hasty evacuation of passengers and the man’s detainment by FBI agents, occurred on Oct. 9, 2021. Read the full Story >>

PhotoPlus is postponing its in-person Create NYC event, which had been scheduled to take place in October. “The difficult decision was made after consulting our community partners and supporters and closely monitoring the ongoing progression of the COVID-19 pandemic in the U.S.,” notes the PhotoPlus Expo website. PhotoPlus is owned and operated by Emerald X, which also owns Rangefinder, WPPI, and The Portrait Masters.
