The deadline for submitting applications for the 2022 W. Eugene Smith Memorial Fund grants has been extended to June 5 at 11:59 ET. The program includes the $40,000 W. Eugene Smith Grant in Humanistic Photography, the $10,000 Howard Chapnick Grant for work ancillary to photography including education and research, and the W. Nature Watch: An Archive for Amazonian Camera Trap Imagery

Photographers and researchers have been using camera traps to track and identify wildlife in the Amazon, the most biodiverse area on earth, but there hasn't been a central location for information about those images, notes The Washington Post. Now a massive archive — with records for over 150,000 snapshots taken between 2001 and 2020, has been collected in one place.
