Feats: Photographer Builds World's First 4x5 film Camera with AF, Hybrid Finder and Universal Lens Mount

Aleksi Koski has designed and built the Conflict AF45 camera, which he believes is the world's first autofocus-enabled 4x5 film camera. Still in a prototype phase, the camera uses a laser-based focusing system that's accurate to around 1-2mm, notes DP Review. The camera's focus pull is 62mm, enabling close focus to about 50cm with a 150mm lens and 10-20cm on a wide-angle lens. The lens range is 65-150mm.   Read the full Story >>

Honor Roll: 2022 Alexia Grant Winners

Syracuse University’s Newhouse School of Public Communications has announced the winners of the 2022 Alexia Grants program, which supports professional and student photographers whose work inspires change and world understanding. This year’s contest, sponsored by Sony, drew over 250 project proposals from more than 50 nations. Istanbul-based Danielle Villasana is the recipient of the $20,000 professional grant for her project “Abre Camino,” which explores the challenges faced by transgender women in Latin America.   Read the full Story >>
