Amy Harris, a freelance photographer from Indiana, is suing the House Jan. 6 committee, arguing that a subpoena the panel issued for her telephone records violates the First Amendment, notes Politico. Harris’s photos of the riot on the Capitol grounds have appeared in news outlets such as CNN, Rolling Stone and POLITICO. Harris’ suit says that before the storming of the Capitol, she was in regular contact with leaders of the Proud Boys, the right-wing group that took a leading role in the assault on the Capitol.    Read the full Story >>

Art News: Crystal Williams Becomes First Black Leader of RISD

Crystal Williams, a professor and poet, has been named the next president of the Rhode Island School of Design. Since 2017, Williams has been vice president and associate provost for community and inclusion at Boston University, where she also serves as a professor of English. Williams has also held senior leadership roles at Bates College in Maine and Reed College in Oregon. In July 2020, after the RISD’s Anti-Racism Coalition and BIPOC faculty members raised concerns about structural racism, the school promised significant changes.
