This Just In from Pictoplasma
The Pictoplasma Academy is a new program for higher learning and exchange, suited for all artists longing to expand their practice in a specific field related to the creation of characters – whether as illustrators, animation filmmakers, fine artists, or graphic, fashion, and product designers. The emphasis is not on the limits of style, media or format, but on a shared interest to explore the principles of outstanding character representations to achieve maximal appeal.
The first program takes place this October 12 - 20 as an intense, 8-day master class in the heart of Berlin and invites graduate students and professionals alike to intensify their skills and further develop their work centered on the creation of characters.
The Pictoplasma Academy will admit a limited number of participants selected upon application and pair each with a supervisor for the duration of the full course. Workshops will challenge them to bring their creation to various media, understand a diverse range of technics, work out and highlight the visual essence and refine the conceptual framework. Every day, guest lecturers will give inspiring incentives to the group and act as additional critics to presentations by participants. These guests will not only give input from an artistic angle, but also offer insight on aspects such as copyright, licensing and production. The deadline for applications is July 26, 3013.
