The next couple of weeks brings a deluge of photography book events covering terrain that ranges from sequencing and laying out a book on a Mac to starting a library, with advice from publishers, photographers, and booksellers. Panel Discussion: Introduction to Collecting Photography Books

Talk and book signing with Michal Chelbin, Strangely Familiar: Acrobats, Athletes, and Other Traveling Troupes, Tuesday, April 29, 6:30 pm, followed by a reception co-hosted by the Jewish Consulate. In her pictures of circus performers and wrestlers from small towns in Israel, Ukraine, Eastern Europe, and England, the young Israeli photographer offers a glimpse into worlds both strange and familiar.
Talk and book signing with Edgar Martins: Topologies, Wednesday, April 30, 6:30 pm. Martins explores the unexpected impact of modernism on the landscape, photographed in Portugal and on the desolate terrain of Iceland, in "unphotographable" conditions, such as in darkness, in bad weather, or in areas difficult to access.
