Frieze returns to The Shed in May with more than 65 of the world’s leading contemporary art galleries and the acclaimed Focus section led by Lumi Tan

One of the highlights of Frieze NY is the return of the Artist Pllate Project. Launched in 2020 by Co-Founder & Curator Michelle Hellman, the Artist Plate Project has partnered with over 150 acclaimed artists. Each plate, produced in editions of 250 by Atelier Eighty Eight, is priced at $250, with proceeds directly funding vital services such as meals, housing support, and crisis intervention. The purchase of just one plate can feed more than 100 homeless and hungry individuals.

This year’s participating artists include Alexander Calder, Amoako Boafo, Amy Sherald, Anna Weyant, Barkley L. Hendricks, Brian Calvin, Carmen Herrera, Cecily Brown, Charles Gaines, Chase Hall, Christina Quarles, Cindy Sherman, Danielle McKinney, Derrick Adams, Ed Ruscha, Faith Ringgold, Jackson Pollock, Jean-Michel Basquiat, JR, KAWS, Keith Haring, Lorna Simpson, Louise Bourgeois, Man Ray, Mickalene Thomas, Robert Indiana, Sanford Biggers, Takashi Murakami, among others.

The 11th edition of the New Art Dealers  Alliance will include a diverse and expanded selection from 120 galleries, art spaces, and non-profit organizations spanning 19 countries and 50 cities such as Brussels, Shanghai, Berlin, Mexico City, Wroclaw, Belgrade, New York, and Philadelphia—and showcases 65 NADA Members and 54 first-time exhibitors including Eugster || Belgrade, Gallery Common from Tokyo, CONSTITUCIÓN from Buenos Aires, Dohing Art from Seoul, Galerie Noah Klink from Berlin, and DARLA from New York, among others.

Visitors may plumb the broad offerings of NADA with curated tours by Commissioner, a community-led program that brings people together to support artists and collect art.
This year’s edition led by architect and designer, Komal Kehar, will focus on fresh voices, first-time exhibitors, and compelling dialogues across movements, junctures, and geographies, and will include exciting opportunities to meet the artists and curators firsthand.

Independent Art Fair | May 8–11

From a network of more than 350 galleries assembled since its inception, 85 galleries are taking part in this year’s 16th edition of Independent. A new curatorial initiative, Independent Debuts, will feature more than 20 artists who have had no more than one solo show in New York, and never in a fair capacity. . A number of thee presentations xhibitions will address timely socio-political themes such as the climate crisis and Indigenous identity, while others grapple with the enduring role of humor in art.n Discovery and rediscovery is central to Independent’s mission, leading it to host more solo artist debuts than any other American fair combined. To expand on this commitment, the forthcoming edition of Independent will continue to play a key role in shaping the future cultural landscape. Info

Independent will partner with Puck on a public program of talks this year. Soft Launch of 2026 Conductor Fair | May 8–11 | powerhousearts.org

In anticipation of its official 2026 debut, Powerhouse Arts presents a sneak peek into its forthcoming art fair. Seeking to remove barriers of entry for exhibiting in New York, Conductor will work with young galleries and individual artists by keeping exhibition costs low, and reducing shipping and production fees by enabling exhibitors to create their work through access to all of Powerhouse Arts’s fabrication shops.

While it won’t launch officially until next year, this four-day event will offer a glimpse of what’s to come. Keep an eye out for work by Khaled Jarrar, Amanda Phingbodhipakkiya, Suchrita Mattai, and the artists of the Indigenous Brazilian collective Movimento do Artistas Huni Kuin (MAHKU), among others.
